OUR TEAM
We are a year-round competitive swim team with training locations in Park Ridge, IL. Our swimmers develop skills and technique at all levels in a competitive environment with a focus on sportsmanship and teamwork.
We consistently place swimmers in Regionals, Age Group State and Senior State championships. Champions are made in practice, and it takes hard work, dedication and perseverance to get there! We, as a team, are commited to work together and put our best efforts every day. Our Team is a Family. A Family of experienced coaches, dedicated swimmers, and parents commited to support their athletes throughout their journey. This is the reason of our success. This is what makes us stand out as a team. We are storng. We are together. We are Neptunes!
COMMITMENT TO THE TEAM
The Neptune Swim Team offers many practices per week as well as an all-team practice. Swimmers in the first groups are not required to attend every practice, but regular attendance will reinforce skills and help build endurance in the water. The coaches encourage swimmers to attend practice as often as they are able, particularly if they expect to swim well at meets. It is our hope that swimmers will enjoy practice and want to attend, especially as they become more competitive and confident about their swimming abilities.
Every day for every group, the emphasis is how to improve your stroke. Practicing the technique, speeding it up, then racing it. Swimming smart takes hard work to master the best techniques. Learning to race in practice and how to work hard are what each swimmer is challenged to do every day. Race pace sets lead to better racing and stronger swimmers.
A swim meet is where swimmers can compete and put to work their skills that they practiced. Home meets are held at our pool, while meets that are hosted by other teams are at different pools. There are two types of pools that we compete in. During the Fall-Spring season we compete in short-course pools which are 25 yards. During the summer season we compete in long-course pools which are 50 meters. When at meets swimmers should be responsible as of getting to their races on time and having their equipment ready. Equipment includes a team suit, goggles, towel, and swim cap. Fast swimming is fun!
Being part of a swim team is not just about swimming, competing, and improving your times. It is also about growing as a person, a teammate, and a competitor. Most swimmers will not ever make it to the Olympics but the lessons they learn in the pool will stay with them forever. Neptunes are a family that are for each other as we grow in the sport.
